"Chance Encounters"

I’m a very gregarious person; the kind who will strike up a conversation with you on a train or plane (don’t worry, I can take a hint if you’re not in the mood).

One of my favourite things is noticing small acts of kindness. When I see someone being a genuinely good human, I’ll often approach them and offer a small “thank you” — usually in the form of a fully stamped coffee loyalty card I just happen to have on me.

What follows is almost always the same: a brief, unexpected conversation… and the distinct feeling that we could have talked for hours if time allowed.

Chance Encounters exists to continue those conversations.

This podcast grew out of a segment in an earlier, slightly ramshackle show of mine — an experiment that turned into something more. It’s now its own project, dedicated to sitting down with people I’ve met in strange, fleeting, or serendipitous ways, and properly getting to know them.

What’s it about?

Each episode starts with a simple question: how did we meet?

From there, we dive into you: your story, your work, your passions, your weird and wonderful experiences. I’ll ask questions, follow threads, and occasionally share a story of my own if it connects.

Somewhere along the way, we’ll probably end up asking a slightly bigger question: why did we meet at all?

And at the end, you get the floor to share anything you’d like — projects, ideas, causes, or creations. If you’ve got something to promote, I will happily shout about it.

Who is this for?

Honestly? Anyone interesting.

You don’t need to be famous. You don’t need a platform. If you’ve got a story, a perspective, or even just a good conversation in you, that’s enough.

(Some upcoming guests are well-known, but I’m just as excited to talk to people you’ve never heard of.)

The practical bit

This is a passion project. It’s not monetised, and I’m not an influencer with a massive audience, so I can’t offer payment for appearing.

What I can offer:

Want to be a guest?

If you’ve landed here because we crossed paths in some unexpected way — or even if you just like the idea — I’d love to talk.

Conversations can happen in person or remotely, and will be recorded and shared publicly.
