The Storm & The Song – An Eberron Play-by-Post Campaign

The Premise

Hearken, travelers and dreamers, to a tale yet unwritten!

It is the year 982 YK, and the world of Eberron teeters on the edge of transformation and chaos. The Last War rages, Dragonmarked houses conspire, and the secrets of elemental binding shimmer just out of reach.

In the midst of this storm stand two figures: the half-elf Hawelin of House Lyrandar, a powerful sorceress, heir to the Mark of Storm; and Neith, a mysterious Changeling whose past and future are tied to secrets yet untold. Together, and with their companions, their fates entwine, their choices will shape events that thunder across Eberron, and ultimately set the stage for a Song that will echo long after the War is done.

Yet their story cannot be told by one voice alone. It demands a chorus. I, humble Chronicler of this tale, seek other pens to join mine — bold writers, clever tacticians, schemers, poets, and fools alike — to step into Eberron’s shadows and light. Together we will weave tales of war and diplomacy, intrigue and revelation, bonds and betrayal. Delve into ruins, charge across battlefields, steal secrets for the good of the people or for personal gain; expect the weight of choices, shifting alliances, and the pull between destiny and free will.

Know this: the story is mine to guide, and yours to enrich. The skeleton of this saga lies before you; it will be our ink, our wit, our choices that grant it flesh and spirit. Do you accept?

The Game

Play-by-Post allows everyone (including the DM) more time to breathe, absorb detail, and consider their own moves with care, without the pressure to attend fixed play times. Hopefully this will completely avoid the bane of all D&D campaigns: scheduling conflicts!

This does mean, however, the game is writing-focused. There will be a recommended minimum and maximum length and number of posts each week, and tools and support available to help improve writing if needed. Descriptive writing skills are essential, as you lay out your characters' choices, thoughts, dialogue, and actions in detail.

There will also be occasional optional Voice Chats to deepen immersion and reinforce Player and Character relationships.

It cannot be overstated that this is a Collaborative Storytelling effort. While Hawelin and Neith’s roles are partially predetermined, their details, personalities, and development will be shaped by the players. Other characters will be equally vital to the story, with their own arcs, goals, and influence.

The Players (You?)

The DM (Me!)

My name is Quill (he/him&they/them). I’ve been roleplaying in one form or another — LARP, SCA, forums, TTRPGs — for over two decades, though I'm relatively new to DMing. My passion is for character-driven storytelling and collaborative worldbuilding. I’ve run and played D&D in multiple editions, and I’m especially drawn to Eberron’s unique blend of pulp adventure, noir intrigue, and magical-industrial revolution.

The Invitation

The Storm has broken, the Song has begun. Will you lend your voice to it?

This is my story to shape, but the tale becomes ours in the telling. If you’re excited to co-create something rich and memorable, this might be your table.

Should you find yourself intrigued and wishing to learn more, please send me a DM on your favourite social media platform (I am always @cuillioc, this is my Facebook) or email me at cuillioc.org@gmail.com.

Questions are most welcome; I'm happy to chat about this endeavour endlessly. Please be prepared to answer questions about yourself as a player, your experience level (whatever that may be), your writing style, and so forth.

Together, we will bring The Storm & The Song to life!
